Hello All,
Sadly I am writing to you about the passing of LTC (R) Fredrick "Jerry" Gerald Harrison, age 81, of Ellijay, Georgia,
passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at his residence.
LTC Harrison was born October 28, 1944, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late John Miller & Ethel Mae (McDonald) Harrison.
Jerry proudly served his country with honor & dedication in both the United States Marine Corps &United States
Army. His 34 years of military service reflected his deep sense of duty & commitment to his country. He served in
the Vietnam War and several conflicts throughout his career.
He was a Special Forces Officer earning numerous awards including: Bronze Star Medal with V device, Bronze Star Medal (3 awards), Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Army Commendation Medal (4 awards), Combat Infantry Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Special Forces Tab.
Jerry shared 62 wonderful & adventurous years of marriage with his beloved wife, June. Together, they built a life filled with love, family & cherished memories. He will be lovingly remembered by those who knew him & deeply missed by the family and friends he leaves behind.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers, John Harrison & Donnie Harrison.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, June Harrison (Love), & daughters, Missy Durkin (Kevin Durkin) & Amy Borden (Andrew Lankford); grandchildren, Davis Durkin, Miller Durkin, & Allison Durkin; along with several amazing nieces, nephews and other relatives who will cherish his memory.
A memorial service with military rites is being planned to honor Jerry's life and service to his country. Arrangements will be announced later.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to Homes For Our Troops https://www.hfotusa.org/donate in memory of Jerry.
