1208 Foundation

The 1208 Foundation has been busy as usual, but this update is short and sweet. June was a huge month for us: the 1208 Foundation took lead in bringing 47 people to the United States! This is an incredible achievement, and the credit goes to a literal squad of our Afghan allies, and “Dave”, my quieter, less combative Green Beret counterpart. 1208 currently has seven Afghan nationals on staff assisting on a full or part-time basis. For now, we are keeping their identities concealed out of an abundance of caution, but hopefully one day soon we can give them the public recognition that they deserve. With the SIV program bogged down and inefficient, getting 47people out of Afghanistan is an incredible validation of everything we have been doing for the last two years. June was huge, but August will give it a run for its money: On August 15th, at Georgetown University, 1208, alongside our NGO counterparts at the Moral Compass Federation will be hosting what might very well be the biggest Afghanistan-centric event of the year. We’ve reserved Gaston Hall -the same venue used to host Presidents and foreign leaders- and speakers for the event include LTG John Mulholland, Ambassador Ronald Neumann, and Jack McCain. Sami Sadat and Ali Maisam Nazary will also be making appearances, as are several prominent members of the NGO, veteran, and Afghan communities.
