Hello Members and Friends of the Association,

For those of you who know him, David Teixeira, Sr. was with the support company at Camp Blanding and was involved in a serious motorcycle accident recently.  Thanks to Jerry Bartlett for passing this along to us.

You can read for details below.

I do not have any information other than what is written below except to say that if you wish to donate to fundraiser that gets set up for him, you need to ensure you are contributing to the correct David Teixeira, Sr as there is already one on GoFundMe for a gentleman who passed in March 2021.

Chief Cooley,

I saw your message and I talked to our SF Association Chapter 88 President, Willy Prothrock, a few minutes ago. He was unaware of the accident and what was happening with Tex. He said our SF Association is ready to help and requested that the family or Peggy Glover contact him directly. I am including "WillyP" in this message to you. His telephone number is (707) 662-9838. I know Willy is a lawyer and has helped several members of our chapter with legal and family matters. As a lawyer he cannot call and ask to help but the family can reach out to him for advice.

About half of the addressees on this message are members of SFA 88 and will do whatever we can to help.

Subject: New Update on David Teixeira Sr.

Earlier this evening, I received another update from Peggy Glover:

Update from David’s daughter Ashliegh at about 4 PM:  “Tex is awake, and talking.  He is in excruciating pain as y’all can only imagine. He is not aloud any visitors, as he needs all the rest possible!  He is humbled by the amount of love and prayers everyone has shown already.  The BEST way to do something for Tex right now is to allow him to rest and heal.  They will be amputating his leg above the knee tomorrow morning at 9:15.  The way his leg was "degloved" there is no salvageable skin or muscle from behind the knee down.  Please keep Tex and his family and all of the staff, the Dr’s and nurses in your prayers tomorrow morning!”

From Peggy Glover:  “I will be getting with the Special Forces Association to see about setting up a fund for Tex, there has been an amazing amount of people wanting to know what they can do or help with.  Tex and his family appreciate the love!”

For those of you who have been asking if any help is needed, the answer is YES.  Tex’s family is incurring additional expenses for food and gas, with trips back and forth to Gainesville.  And medical expenses for Tex, will surely be mounting up.  With her permission, I am passing along an address for Ashliegh N. Teixeira, 5379 County Road 352, Keystone Heights, FL 32656.  If you want to send funds to go directly to Tex, send your check in his name David Teixeira Sr.  If you want to assist his family with expenses, you can send funds or gift cards for food or gas.

But most of all, please continue your prayers for our brother and his family!
