Most of you may have heard of the tragic fatal accident involving a D Company soldier at Camp Blanding on January 10, 2025. Camp Blanding held a memorial for SGT Collin Wood today and we offer our sincere condolences to family and friends.

Happy New Year!
The following information was sent by Mike Ricketts:
Initial Plan: Invite SFA and all prior members of the BN that would like to attend. Event will be at the Airborne Training area, Camp Blanding, Saturday January 11th (outdoors w/cover).
Likely timeline: 1700 Start
1730-1830 BBQ (smoked pork butts) sides (cooked and provided by the mess section), beer, tea, soft drinks. We will be cooking and it looks like the Jax Fireman Union wants to cook as well.
1830 Awards and presentations for departed/departing members of the BN.
After As long as anyone wants to stay and mingle.
Let me know your best-guess estimate of the number of pax from your formation that you suspect will attend.

The following is from Ted Cooley. See below the number of potential number of unclaimed veterans from the VA. This message is a repeat for some of you.
Hello All,
MSG(R) Joey Browning asked me to forward the below information to everyone on my SF Contacts List. He said you can contact him with any questions. His contact info is (904) 303-3337, or email "airbornejoe58@yahoo.com".
The urns are only for “unclaimed” veterans cremains. I give the urns to the National Cemeteries. I joined a couple of Marine Force Recon Colonel’s in this project at Raiford Prison. I take donations for the precut wood that I have to order for the inmates to assemble urn kits for “unclaimed veterans cremains”. The Special Forces Association, chapter 88 will have a booth set up at the Airborne Training Area at the battalion cookout on Jan 11th, along with applications for joining our chapter.
I will have one of the urn’s with me and will be taking donations for ordering more precut urn kits that the inmates assemble.

Hello Members and Friends of the Association,
A message from Chris Wilkerson, President, Special Forces Association
Seasons Greetings,
I hope your Christmas was pleasant and your New Year starts with a positive light. I’m hoping the SFA has a productive and prosperous 2025. That said, I have a vacancy on the Board of Officers that I’d like to fill immediately.
As per the Constitution the Secretary keeps minutes for all Association meetings. He distributes these as prescribed by the president and appropriate regulations. He conducts official correspondence, signs official documents, maintains records so that they are available at any time to the President or Chapter representatives and performs such duties as the President may assign. He is responsible for accepting and depositing all monies for the Association, providing the Treasurer with deposit documentation (the elected officers may designate an individual other than the Secretary to accept and deposit funds). He assumes additional duties as the chairman of the Membership Committee and is responsible for ensuring continued growth in membership of the Association. He is the Chairman of the membership Committee and selects its members.
The caveat to the above is that the Secretary does not receive or deposit money, therefore does not need to necessarily be local to the Fayetteville area (this role has been filled by the Executive Director). Our Association depends on members to keep us thriving and relevant. Our Membership Committee needs to review the current application process, the fees, and the requirements for membership – all important and priority required updates.
If you are interested in being considered as filling the role of the Secretary of the SFA National Board of Officers, please submit your name along with a brief description of why you’d like to be considered, any background information that can assist you in this role, and any expectations you may have.
Deadline for your name submission is next Monday, 06January. We (the NBO) intends to review the applicants and vote on a decision prior to the NBO Meeting scheduled for 08January.
